The designer / craftsman stands apart
from the many craftsmen reproducing traditional styles, by his ability to
create new solutions that meet the rigours and change involved in modern
living. Lee Sinclair is a designer / craftsman and, with his highly
skilled team, produces fine, original, contemporary furniture to
commission. Each piece encompasses individual requirements for
practicality, beauty of form, superb materials, and meticulous
craftsmanship.
Since 1974 the workshop has produced furniture for
many varied styles of interior. Our portfolio contains examples of
exquisite cabinet work, modern dining suites, contemporary chairs,
exclusive bedrooms, minimalist kitchens, organic occasional tables,
sculpted desks, library shelving, library steps, piano stools, prize
winning music stands, rocking chairs, screens and complete conference
rooms. Each piece shows the same careful attention to detail and quality
that have gained Lee Sinclair his reputation as one of the country's
leading furniture designer / craftsmen. Lee works with interior designers,
architects and directly with clients to produce creative solutions.
It is important in the 21st Century to remember that protecting the World's environment is protecting us all and our children. Lee is committed to using materials that will last for many generations in styles that are timeless. This is the way to protect the environment. The worst thing that could happen to design is that it becomes fashion orientated, following short term trends with no ethical grounds. Good design is not about fashion but longevity and function. A beautiful object will always be beautiful no matter how fashion changes. The best Art Deco and Art Nouveau designs will last and be valued forever and this timeless quality is what Lee strives for in his designs. It is his view that all design should be functional and beautiful; the maker should enjoy the making and that should show in the completed piece. This is the essential philosophy behind the Arts and Crafts movement in Britain and is even more relevant today with the rise of mass produced life style products. The important question to ask before buying anything is - why do I want it? and always be honest with your answer. Try to imagine the satisfaction of being involved in the design of your furniture, choosing and discussing the detailing, materials, upholstery etc.
Working directly with the designer and maker of your furniture has many advantages. Style, size, timber, upholstery and finish are all variable. Your financial commitment is for the service and quality you receive no third party being involved. We work with you to translate your ideas and needs into furniture that looks good, fits its surroundings, fulfils its purpose and meets the budget. You are not forced to accept a standard product. The final result is a unique blend that is never exactly repeated. Many people having participated in a furniture project with us find that it is an enjoyable experience and much of our work derives from customers who have already commissioned furniture from Lee Sinclair. Their recommendation is another precious and important aspect of our commercial success, which we appreciate and value.
